Along the way we passed Massacre Rocks State Park, Malad Gorge, and exits for the Bruneau sand dunes and observatory, the Herrett Center planetarium and observatory, and the City of Rocks. At mile marker 101 between Pocatello and Idaho Falls, there is a rest area with walking trails through Hell's Half Acre, a lava rich area near the Craters of the Moon National Park.

Site Notes
MOI is a general science and culture museum. Twice a year a touring display occupies the major part of the museum. This year it was Ink and Blood, a history from the Dead Sea Scrolls to the King James Bible. Two years ago it was a space flight display. Down stairs is the permanent display of early history and natural history of Idaho. There's also a permanent display of nuclear research in Idaho.

The Museum of Idaho has a gift shop stocked with items related to the current display along with, rocks and minerals, science toys, puzzles, postcards, clothing, stuffed animals, and Idaho books.

Paul’s Favorite
On this trip I would say I enjoyed the nuclear research displays the most. I like books and calligraphy, but the main display wasn't as interesting as the space display two years ago.

Rachel’s Favorite
My favorite was also the nuclear research display, although the old-fashioned printing press was a close second. If you are looking for purely science-related museums to visit, it might be best to call this museum ahead of time to see what they are displaying.
